Manage your team

You can manage your teams, their settings, and the people in them in the Team settings section of the Settings page. Open the menu at the right of the header, select Settings, and scroll down to Team settings.

What you are able to do in this section depends on your role in the team you are looking at. Team administrators see the controls to create and delete teams, to invite and remove members, and to change a member's role. Members see the same tables as read-only (with the exception that you are always able to remove yourself from a team).

The Teams table

The Teams table lists every team you belong to, with a Name, Description, Created, and Delete column.

In addition to whatever other teams to which a user belongs, each user has their own "Personal" team. Work done on this team is private to that user.

Each row has a button at its left, and the team you are working in is the one marked when the page opens. Selecting another row shows that team's settings and members below. Note that this does not actually switch you into that team — to do that, use Switch team in the settings menu instead. See Around the app.

Change a team's description

Team administrators can edit a team's description:

  1. Select the pencil in the team's Description cell.
  2. Edit the text.
  3. Press Enter, or select the green tick, to save.

To back out, press Escape or select the ×. The description you started with is put back.

Members are able to view the description, but not edit it.

Create a team

  1. Select the + beside Teams.
  2. Enter a name. A name is required; a description is optional.
  3. Select Create.

The team is created with you as its administrator, and the Teams table refreshes to show it.

Any user can create a new team and invite others to it. The creating user is automatically made an administrator of that team.

You can think of teams as arbitrary working groups - nothing prevents you from making (and later disbanding) as many teams as you require for your individual work circumstances. The number of teams has no implications for billing.

Delete a team

A team's administrators see a × in its Delete column.

  1. Select the ×.
  2. A confirmation window names the team and asks whether to move it to trash.
  3. Select Delete.

The team is moved to trash. If it was the team you were working in, Tiro Pro moves you to another of your teams.

To back out, select Cancel, press Escape, or select the background. The window closes and the team stays where it is.

Two rules limit this:

  • You cannot delete the only team you belong to. The control is present but disabled, and reads "You cannot delete your only team".
  • Where you are not an administrator of a team, no × appears at all.

The selected team's settings

Where the team you have selected has settings of its own, a Settings table appears beneath the Teams table, with a row per setting and its value. The names are shown in readable form. Where a team has no settings of its own, no table appears.

At present, all team settings are read-only. In future, additional customisation and configuration options will be made available through this table.

The Members table

All members of the selected team are shown in the Members table.

Column What it shows
Email The member's email address.
Joined When they joined the team.
Role Their role, in a dropdown offering "member" and "admin".
Invited By The email address of whoever brought them into the team.
Remove The control for taking someone out of the team, where you may.

Change a member's role

Administrators change a user's role from that member's Role dropdown.

Members see the Role dropdown on every row, but cannot change it.

Each team must have at least one administrator. Where you are the only administrator, it is not possible to change your own role to "member" unless you make another person an administrator first.

Remove a member

Administrators see a × on every member's row. Select it, and a confirmation names the person's email address and asks whether to remove them from the team. Confirm, and the member is removed.

The last administrator on a team cannot be removed.

Leave a team

If you are not an administrator, the × appears only on your own row. Select it and confirm, and you will be removed from that team.

If that team was the last team to which you belonged, a new "Personal" team is created for you. As such, you are never left without at least one team.

Invite a new member

Only team administrators may invite new members.

  1. Select the + beside Members.
  2. In the Invite User window, enter the person's email address.
  3. Choose the role they should have.
  4. Select Send invite.

Where you are not an administrator, the Members table has no +.
